Dead Ends

I just had the pleasure of being a guest on the podcast Paid Vocation with Lupe Prado. We talked about my winding career path. Starting with my 5th grade dream of being the first female president of the United States up to now.

Here's a preview, but make sure you give the whole episode a listen. There are so many gems packed in there!

The theme running throughout the episode was career transitions and what causes women not to make them.

Many women believe that their career potential has a limit. But that's not true.

Imagine you're driving in your car and you reach a dead end. You have two choices:

  1. You can give up on your destination and stay stuck in your car at the end of the street.

  2. You can turn around and go a different direction than you went before.

Obviously you'd choose option 2. None of you are currently sitting on a dead end street in your car believing you've gone as far as you can go. So why are you doing this with your career?

Making one decision in the past doesn't mean you can't make a different one now.

But I see so many of you believing that because you picked a career 20 years ago or a job 5 years ago that you're stuck. You think that you can't choose something new now because you chose something different before.

That's exactly the same as deciding to live in your car on a dead end street because you made a wrong turn.

You have permission to turn around and make a new choice.

You don't have to stay where you are. If you feel stuck and believe you don't have the option to change, I can help you.

I can help you see all of the options available to you.

I can help you rediscover yourself in order to make the next right decision.

I can help you detach from labels and previous decisions so you can pivot and move on.
